Indian Stock Market Today: Indian equity markets struggled to maintain their early momentum, breaking a three-day winning streak on February 18. The Nifty slipped below the 25,400 mark intraday, weighed down by broad-based selling across various sectors. Investor sentiment was further dampened by escalating tensions between the US and Iran.

After a positive opening, the indices quickly lost their gains within the first hour of trading, extending their losses as the session progressed. In the final hour, profit-booking dragged the Nifty below the 25,400 mark, leading to a close near the day's low.

The broader indices followed a similar trajectory, with the Nifty Midcap index declining by 1.6% and the Nifty Smallcap index falling by 1.3%.

NIFTY: The index opened 54 points higher at 25,873.35, reached a high of 25,885.30 and closed at 25,454.35. On the daily chart, Nifty formed a long bearish candle, which almost engulfed the previous three green candles. Immediate resistance is placed at 25,550, while immediate support stands at 25,370.

BANK NIFTY: The index opened 110.05 points higher at 61,660.85, reached a high of 61,678.80 and closed at 60,739.55. Bank Nifty also formed a long bearish candle, which engulfed the previous two red candles. Immediate resistance is placed at 61,000, with support around 60,400.
