After a sluggish start, the market made a sharp recovery within the first hour and traded within a range during the first half of the session. However, fresh buying interest in the mid-session propelled the Nifty higher, allowing it to reach a peak of 25,764.
Broader markets outperformed the benchmarks, with the Nifty Midcap index rising by 0.3% and the Smallcap index adding 0.6%. On the sectoral front, PSU Bank, Defence, IT, Media and Auto sectors gained between 0.5% and 2%, while the Metal sector fell 1% and the Realty index slipped 0.3%.
NIFTY: The index opened 44.80 points lower at 25,637.95, reached a high of 25,764.40 and closed at 25,725.40. On the daily chart, Nifty formed a bullish candle with upper and lower shadows. Immediate resistance is placed at 25,800, while immediate support stands at 25,570.
BANK NIFTY: The index opened 127.95 points lower at 60,821.15, reached a high of 61,241.60 and closed at 61,174. Bank Nifty formed a bullish candle with a lower shadow. Immediate resistance is placed at 61,250, with support around 60,900.
